France Prešeren spent his childhood in Vrba, a small village in Žirovnica in a typical farmhouse originating from the 16th century. The house in its current form dates from 1856 when it was rebuilt following a fire. Opened as a museum in 1939, Slovenia’s first protected cultural site represents the living culture of the time when Prešeren lived in the house in the 19th century.
