The Municipality of Žirovnica has introduced a new parking regime with a desire to limit traffic in the Završnica valley, which is classified as a Natura 2000 area and provides an important source of drinking water. The previous traffic regime, which enabled free vehicle access to the valley and onwards towards the Valvasorjev dom mountain hut and Zelenica, caused problems for visitors, hikers, walkers and cyclists, however, it was nature itself that suffered the most – our forests, mountain pastures, meadows and all the animals that live in this area. Help us preserve nature!
Prešeren’s Birth House
In Vrba there is a car park for cars and buses for visitors to Prešeren’s Birth House and the Žirovnica Path of Cultural Heritage. Parking is free of charge.
Janša’s Apiary
In Breznica there is a parking area for cars and buses. Parking is free of charge.
Finžgar’s Birth House
In Doslovče, there is a small parking lot for cars and a bus for visitors to Finžgar’s birthplace and the Žirovnica Cultural Heritage Trail. The parking lot is also equipped with a drinking fountain and public restrooms. Parking is free of charge.
During events held at Finžgar’s birthplace, we recommend that visitors park at the parking lot in Breznica and take a walk past Janša’s apiary to Finžgar’s birthplace. The walk will take visitors about 14 minutes.
Jalen’s Birth House
In Rodine there is a car park for cars and buses. Parking is free of charge.
Čop’s Birth House
There is a car park for up to seven vehicles in front of Čop’s Birth House in Žirovnica for visitors to the house and the Žirovnica Path of Cultural Heritage. Parking is free of charge.
The Avenue of Famous Men
Parking is permitted in the afternoon and weekends at the Žirovnica Primary School in Zabreznica. Parking is free of charge.
Završnica
In the Završnica valley there is a car park for cars and buses. Parking is chargeable. The parking lot is also equipped with a drinking fountain and public restrooms.
Prices
- Cars and Motorbikes: 0.50 EUR per hour / 5 EUR daily rate
- Motorhomes: 1 EUR per hour / 10 EUR daily rate
- Buses: 5 EUR per hour / 25 EUR daily rate
- Parking charges are applied between 6am and 10pm
Limited access for motor vehicles from the Završnica valley to the mountain pastures (from 1st May to 31st October)
- There is a boom barrier at the transformer station at the start of the forest road towards the Valvasorjev dom mountain hut. The boom barrier for access towards the Dom pri izviru Završnice mountain hut is located at the transformer station on the forest road towards Zelenica.
- The price for a one-off entry for vehicles towards the Valvasorjev dom mountain hut is 10 EUR, towards the Dom pri izviru Završnice mountain hut is 7 EUR.
- Payment: by cash or credit card at the parking ticket machine in the main car park in Završnica, or by credit card at both boom barriers.
- The boom barrier operates between 4am and 10pm
