The greatest Slovenian poet spent his childhood in a small village, in an old house where everything is preserved as it once was. The furnishings in the black kitchen, house, and pantry still evoke the lifestyle of prosperous rural families today.

The monument with Zajec's depiction of Prešeren in Vrba was designed by the sculptor Vasja Ulrich. It was unveiled on December 3, 2000, on the 200th anniversary of the poet's birth. The statue is positioned to greet anyone who comes to Vrba.

Finžgar's birth house, or locally known as Dolenec's kajža, is an example of the residential culture of a kajžar family at the end of the 19th century in the Upper Carniola region. The upper spaces include a black kitchen in the hallway, a pantry, a house, and a chamber.
