The Žirovnica Cultural Heritage Path connects the birth houses of some of Slovenia’s literary giants (the greatest Slovenian poet France Prešeren, his friend the linguist and scholar Matija Čop, and the writers Fran Saleški Finžgar and Janez Jalen), as well as the apiary of the pioneer of European beekeeping, Anton Janša. It is one of the most beautiful theme paths in Slovenia.
Don’t miss the special offer which includes visits to all four houses, available every fourth Saturday of the month from March to October from 10am to 5pm, and take advantage of a free ride on a traditional horse- drawn carriage.

Ride on a hay cart along the Žirovnica Cultural Heritage Path and nearby locations on request. The cart can accommodate up to 20 people.
During the warmer part of the year, you can experience the Žirovnica Cultural Heritage Path in the most nostalgic and authentic way — by lojtrnik, a wooden horse-drawn hay carriage, or by a smaller traditional cart, once called zapravljivček (the spender). Janko likes to take the reins and takes visitors around the museum houses, once homes of some of Slovenia’s greatest masters of writing, and then stops the carriage at Anton Janša’s memorial apiary or take you to the tasting of delicious honey products.
