Museum Saturdays in Žirovnica

The Žirovnica Path of Cultural Heritage connects the birth houses of the Slovenian literary giants; the greatest Slovenian poet France Prešeren, his best friend, linguist and literary historian Matija Čop, writers Fran Saleški Finžgar and Janez Jalen, and the apiary of the pioneer of modern European beekeeping Anton Janša.

All birth houses along the Žirovnica Path of Cultural Heritage are open every fourth Saturday of the month from March to October. Don’t miss out on a great opportunity: when visiting any museum house on the fourth Saturday of the month you will be offered a free ride by lojtrnik, a traditional wooden horse-drawn hay cart. Lojtrnik will depart at 11.am from the parking in Vrba and take you along the old Imperial road to the Finžgar’s Birth House in Doslovče and back to Vrba. In the event of rain, the ride with the lojtrnik carriage will not be available.
